How it all works
Do you use the Cityrail Network for regular trips?
Do you have a T-Card?
Do you want to save some money and meet new people?

Good!

You are ready to join the T-card Community of Sydney.

The T-card system works by recording where you get on and get off, and charging you for that trip.

So, if you travel from, say, Lindfield to Wynyard, the T-card system would charge you for the following trip:

The T-card system charges you based on the distance you travel. The trip shown above would cost $3.00.

But what if you could trick the T-card system into thinking you hadn't actually made that trip at all?

At the same time you are making your trip, it is likely that someone else is making a trip from, say, Central to Chatswood:

The T-card system would also charge them $3.00.

But if you happened to run into this person at a station you are both passing through on your trip (say, North Sydney), and if you happened to swap your T-cards and continue on your way, the T-card system would only register that you had made the following trip:

(Lindfield to Chatswood)

And that your new friend had made the following trip:

(Central to Wynyard)

You would be charged $2.20 each, a saving of $0.80 per trip. Do the same thing on the trip home and you save again!

For a full-time worker commuting daily, that's a saving of $832 per year.

And the savings are better the further you travel. A Toongabbie-Wynyard swapping with a Central-Parramatta would save $3,120 per year!

And you get to know new people.

So get on board! Post a comment in the section for the rail line you need with the following info:
1. What station you start from
2. What station you end at
3. When you make your trip
4. Best way to contact you

Start talking, swapping and saving!

C'mon, join the T-card Community: Public Transport for the Public.
